FAQ
Questions people ask before they start.
Short answers. If yours is not here, send the form or email hello@brandcrew.co.za.
Who owns my domain and site?
You do. We register the domain in your name when the registrar allows it. If it has to sit in our account for a short time, we transfer it to you once the invoices for that work are paid.
After the final invoice for the design is paid, the website design and the pages we built for you are yours. You always keep the words and photos you gave us.
Do your prices include VAT?
Hosting prices include VAT. Registration service fees are shown excl. VAT. Government fees are passed on at cost and carry no VAT.
Websites, branding, gifting and the bespoke all-in-one service, including business development consulting, are not listed as fixed prices. They are priced on request after assessment, and the quote shows VAT on our fees where it applies.
Are government fees included?
On registrations, the Brandcrew fee and the government fee are shown separately. Government fees, such as CIPC charges, are passed on at cost, are not marked up, and carry no VAT. They can change. Where a bundle says a government fee is included, that fee is named on the registrations page. Other official fees are added when they apply.
Domain registry fees can change too. The hosting page shows the current from price for a .co.za and a .com.
What's included in hosting?
The site stays on a web server, with a certificate so the address starts with https. On a maintenance plan we also do small updates, keep an eye on the site, and reply if it goes down. We aim to answer that email within one business day.
Indicative from prices, incl. VAT, are on the hosting page. A website designed with the hosting is still quoted. We don't promise the site will be up every minute of the year. The host does the physical servers. We are the people you email.
How long does a site take?
A one-page site is often ready in about two weeks once we have your words and pictures. A five-page site is often three to four weeks. Branding takes longer because the logo comes first. Registrations follow the official office. Clothing follows the supplier. The quote names the date.
If you need a date, put it on the form. We will say yes, or suggest another date. If feedback or content is late, the launch date moves by at least the same number of days.
What do I need to provide?
Your business name, what you sell, who it is for, and how people should contact you. Photos help. If you don't have photos, say so. We can use simple graphics, or plan a photo step.
We can help you tidy the words. A long catalogue is a separate quote.
Can I move my existing site?
Yes. We can rebuild it, or move a site you already own if the files and the domain can be transferred. We look first and tell you if anything is in the way. Your old address can point to the new site.
What happens if I cancel?
You can cancel a hosting and maintenance plan with 30 days' written notice to hello@brandcrew.co.za. You pay for work already done. Your domain, and the content you have paid for, stay yours. We help you move, or we leave the site up until the notice period ends.
South African law may also give you a cooling-off period. The terms of service explain the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act in plain language. Those rights are not taken away by our notice period.
Do you give legal or tax advice?
No. Registration and compliance work is an admin and filing service. We are not attorneys, accountants or tax practitioners. Business development consulting is general guidance for a new business or a rebrand. It is not legal, tax or accounting advice, and it is not a promise of sales. You check the facts and you sign. If you need a specialist, we will say so.
Can I order branded clothing or gifts here?
Yes, as a quote, not as a shop. Tell us the item, the quantity and the date. We email a price. Nothing is made until you accept. There is no basket on this site. See corporate gifting and clothing.
Is my site POPIA-compliant?
A website is not automatically compliant just because we built it. POPIA is South Africa's data protection law, and it applies to how you handle people's information in the whole business.
We do the parts that sit on the site: a privacy policy page you can edit, forms that ask for consent, and HTTPS. You still need to look after customer information in a lawful way. We don't give legal advice. The Information Regulator publishes guidance at inforegulator.org.za.
